What is acupuncture?

Acupuncture is the use of one time sterile fine thin needles that are inserted into the skin. From a western perspective, once the needles are inserted that create a inflammatory response which is allow circulation to be drawn to the area of insertion. From a Eastern or Chinese Medicine perspective, needles are placed in a certain area that will allow for free flowing of Qi (energy, circulation)

What are the benefits of acupuncture?

Acupuncture has many benefits. It can treat many conditions, such as, relieving muscle or body pain, headaches, inflammation, women’s health issues to digestion, mental health such as depression, anxiety and stress.

Does Acupuncture hurt?

Overall, acupuncture doesn’t really hurt, however you may feel a slight prick when the needle first gets inserted, however, once it is in, the sensation dissipates. There are other alternatives to needles as an option such as ear seeds and needle tacks that are placed superficially on the skin. These approaches can also be beneficial.

How many acupuncture sessions will I need to have before I see results?

The number of sessions will depend on the particular condition being treated, however these session can vary from 3 to 7 sessions

How expensive is acupuncture treatment?

Acupuncture treatments vary in pricing depending on the length of the session. For example, a 60 minute initial treatment can cost from $90-$120 per hour for treatment. After that, prices can vary from $60-$80 a session which can be 30 to 45 minutes, depending on your treatment plan. In addition to needling, acupuncturists may also incorporate cupping and or Moxibustion (heat therapy) to enhance your treatment.
